Fortune Cookie Valentine and Printable

So today we have another Valentine printable I made for all of you to download and print.

You will need a box of individually wrapped fortune cookies. I got mine at the 99 Cent Store. Each box has 12 so each Valentine will cost you less than 9 Cents each!

Print out the printables below, cut on the lines and voila!. Fold the printout in half and staple shut right on the fortune cookie wrapper. Just print, cut. staple. If you want to be super fancy, dip each cookie in chocolate and re-wrap.

Frozen Printable

I designed my own invitation for my baby's party. I first created a 4.5 X 6.5 invitation and then mounted it on 5x7 cardstock. I added a snowflake ribbon detail as well.

Since I love you all so much, I made a printable version for all of you to use. They will print 4.5x6.5 just fill them out. Or if you want to get fancy, paste the JPEG in Word and you can create text boxes to add your text. Just right click and save.

Until next time,

Nicole

Frozen Party

Hi friends. I know it has been a while. I got caught up with Christmas and then my little one's first birthday. Usually I have a massive celebration for birthdays but this year we decided to change things up. We had a very small low key gathering with about 10 adults and 6 kids. We really wanted to celebrate the child with out the stress for us and overwhelming feelings for her. My second child is far more introverted than my first and gets overwhelmed with noise and too many people.

Since Frozen is a new movie, not too many ready made items are available. So, I had to come up with my own. I started with my dessert display. I picked up a fabric panel from Etsy. I mounted it on a foam board to use as my back drop. The "One" letters were on sale fr $1.50 each at Hobby Lobby. I stuck them in various milk glass containers and added uncooked rice. I figured this was easier than mounting on wood because I want to reuse the letters for other words (think NOEL).
I made my own pennant banner with fabric to match Anna's dress. The Frozen fabric is from Joanne's.

The buffet included blueberry yogurt pretzels, dipped Madeleines, dipped Oreos and Twinkies (just because). The framed paper doll photos are from a very talented person, Cory. She generously shares her paper dolls on Facebook and lets us print them for free. The frames are in the $2 bin at Michael's

Party favors are Martha Stewart snowflake favor boxes with free printable tags found here : http://www.weeshare.net/2013/12/frozen-toys-frozen-kids-meals-and-free-printable-frozen-gift-tags.html

No party is complete without a pinata.
Last but not least is the cake. There were no ready made cakes with Frozen. I bought the figurines from the Disney Store. The cake was a marble cake with custard and banana filling and a whipped cream icing from ALBERTSON's. It is really tasty. I highly recommend it.

 Until next time friends.

Planning your next move

So, when I used to work, I was an Auditor. As an auditor, one of the first steps you take before you even audit is planning the engagement. The better you planned the engagement, the smoother it went. Moving can be looked at as a project. Since I am the house wife, I am the "Moving Manager". In sticking to my core competencies, I decided to "plan" my move.

The first thing I did was purge, purge, purge, and purge some more. It took me about 2 weeks to really do a good one.

Then I created a master box spread sheet. I thought of the areas of my home and identified 9 areas. I assigned each area a color and a reference number. I used a three digit reference series in case certain areas reached more than ten boxes. In this example, my kitchen is assigned the orange color and the 200 series. Then, the first box is box 201. My spreadsheet also has the contents of the box. This will make finding my junk  belongings easier. The last time we moved, it took forever to find things, this time around I want to be able to find what I need.

It took me a bit of playing around but pure genius struck me one day. I was deciding how to make labels for my moving boxes and at first I was printing full page sheets with the name of the area and box number. Then I remember that I am a fan of free printables.

I remember using http://www.ontobaby.com/free-printables/chevron-zig-zag-stripe-baby-shower-free-printable/ several times for, get this, CHEVRON print labels. You can customize colors and once printed it has room to write box numbers. Below is an example of the Office labels I created:

How perfect is that? And it goes with my whole notion of not reinventing the wheel. Once you cut these out, there is room on the label to write a box reference number. Now you will have cute moving labels that are color coordinated for a super organized move.

Until next time friends,
Nicole

The Man's Birthday

For those of you who are keeping up, I am trying to blog twice a week. So, watch out for posts on Monday and Wednesday mornings.

Today, I am show casing the dessert table I did for hubby's birthday. The party was a surprise party so I was able to get my decorating on way before the party by choosing fall colors. I hit up the 99 cent store for the ceramic owl (piggy bank) and the vase fillers. I also found some awesome orange and gray chevron fabric to use for my backdrop and serve as my color palette for the party.

I don't believe in reinventing the wheel so, I usually search for free printable to meet my needs. I found the gray happy birthday pennant banner here: http://hellobrielle.wordpress.com/2012/05/21/happy-birthday-banner/. I printed it and attached it to twine with some small clothes pins that I found at Daiso. I usually just pin my banners because I am too lazy to punch holes, it is faster, and looks good.

I envisioned cover my backdrop with several paper rosettes. But the truth is, I did not have the time. I needed to cook for the party. I used this tutorial: http://www.howdoesshe.com/chic-paper-rosette-backdrop-tutorial/ After making the first three, I decided I needed to allocate my time better.

The birthday cake was decorated with another free printable:

That's it folks. This one is a quickie because I need to pack my house and go. Until next time my friends.
